Why I Call God “Daddy”
When I pray I adress God as “Father Most High,” “Almighty God,” “Lord,” “Savior,” but most often “Daddy”. Many people are surprised and even occasionally offended to hear me adress the most powerful being in the entire world as “Daddy”, but I am unbothered.
Hebrews 10: 9 says “And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus.” (NLT). God’s Word tells us that Christians can “enter Heaven’s Most Holy Place” “boldly”! We can hold our heads up high in front of our Father with full confidence that He smiles upon us as we approach. As a believer, we do not need to be afraid of God smiting us for no reason.
I have developed a very close relationship to God. Some people choose a respectful distance. When I pray to God, my Father, I call Him Daddy because I know that He has His loving arms wrapped around me so tight that I don’t have to be afraid of Him or anything else in this world or the next.
Outiside of the emotional attachment I have formed to my God, there is a certain closeness that I feel the tension of when I call Him Daddy. When I call Him Daddy, I do it without fear that He is recoiling from the title, without fear that He is leaning back to fling a lightning bolt my way.
I recognize His awesome power, but I know that I am safer as His child than as anything else I could be.
Daddy, hold me tight!
